Attention British Athletes! – 2021 Licence Fees Due

To All UK or Virtus Classified Athletes (All Sports)

The 2021 UK and International licence fees for British athletes are now due. Fees are payable across all sports and for all athletes.

UKSA is the Virtus member nation for Great Britain. Each year we contact athletes for licence fees to be paid. The Virtus fee is then passed to Virtus by UKSA.

Information on Fees

UK Fee – £15 for all British Athletes

All classified athletes (II1, II2, II3) whether at UKSA (UK) or Virtus (International) level are asked to pay the 2021 UK fee of £15.

Benefits: Once your UK fee is paid:

  • You are recognised for 2021 by UKSA and other UK organisers as a classified athlete in your sport.
  • Your classification status is up to date with UKSA and you will remain on the UK Master list.
  • You can enter some but not all UK events. This is subject to event criteria, standards, COVID protocols and event availability.*
  • You have access to UKSA as required and will be invited to UKSA forums and discussions.

International Fee – £25 – for British athletes with a Virtus (Inas) Classification

If you have a Virtus II1, II2 or II3 classification, you can choose whether to pay the 2021 Virtus international licence fee of £25. This is in addition to the UK fee.

Benefits: once your international fee is paid

  • You are recognised by UKSA, Virtus, and other UK and international federations as an active classified international athlete in your sport.
  • You may be considered for or enter UK events and some international events. This is subject to event criteria, NGB or other standards, COVID protocols and event availability.*
  • You are eligible for consideration for Virtus events (including virtual). This includes the Virtus Global Games and Cricket Tri-Nation Series. Consideration is subject to UKSA or NGB event criteria, standards, COVID protocols and event availability.* Consideration is not a guarantee of selection.
  • You will be listed as active on the Virtus International Master List
  • If you are on an NGB World class programme or pathway, or are part of an elite NGB Para Programme, please read the update regarding swimming and athletics below.

If you choose not to pay the Virtus international licence fee, you will be listed as ‘inactive’ on the Virtus Master List and will not receive the benefits listed above.

UPDATED INFORMATION ON VIRTUS FEE FOR WORLD PARA SWIMMERS ONLY (30 June 2021)

If you are a swimmer on a WCP Paralympic programme, British Swimming has advised that yearly licence fees and an ‘active’ status on the Virtus master list is not required for para events. Therefore WPS selection and consideration will not be effected.

If you wish to be considered for Virtus events you will need to appear as ‘active’ on the Virtus master list.

It is entirely your choice if you wish to appear as ‘active’ on the Virtus master list. If you are a WPS/WCP swimmer and have already paid the £25 Virtus fee and wish now to have a refund, please contact UKSA by close of business on Friday 2nd July 2021.

Notes:

  • *UKSA is aware that for some British events at national level and some other international events, that some organisers and British NGB’s rely on the Virtus master list to check whether an athlete is listed as “active”. Some of these NGB’s and organisers expect an athlete to be listed as “active” on the Master List in order to be considered for selection or sports specific classification. You can only be listed as active if your fees have been paid. This is not a Virtus requirement but a decision for those organisations.
  • The fees (UK and international) listed above are different and separate to IPC licence fees.
  • For international fees, exchange rates have been taken into consideration
  • UKSA will inform Virtus which athletes choose to pay international fees and should be updated to ‘active’ on the Virtus master list.
  • You can view the Virtus Master list here: https://www.virtus.sport/about-us/athlete-eligibility/eligibility-master-list
  • *The competition pathway in class II3 is restricted and is under development only.
