Meet British sports stars at Burnley FC this February

Tom Hamer and Josh Walne have been inspiring local school children

Ever wondered what it feels like to win medals for Great Britain on the world stage or captain England at football? Well, now you can find out…

Burnley boys Tom Hamer and Josh Walne are sharing the secrets of their success at a fun and informative event at Burnley FC on Wednesday 3rd February.

At just 17-years old, swimming sensation Hamer is a Commonwealth Games and European silver medallist and is hotly tipped to add to his medal collection later this year at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.

Rising star Walne, who plays for Padiham FC and coaches for the Danny Ings Disability Sport Project, is the captain of the England Under-21 football team for players with learning disability.

Both athletes have had to overcome the stigma of having learning disability and the obstacles that it presents in every day life such as learning, understanding, and communicating.

On Wednesday 3rd February, they will be sharing their experiences as part of a learning disability awareness workshop.

The event aims to challenge out of date perceptions and demonstrate how your organisation can take simple steps to become more accessible to and inclusive of people with learning disability who can be an asset to your organisation.

Places are strictly limited, so don’t miss out – book without delay.
