Representing Great Britain, Sabrina Fortune has won 2 gold medals over the weekend at the 8th FAZZA International Athletics Competition in Dubai.

Fortune started the weekend off with a win in the Sharjah International meeting, where she threw for 12.02 meters.

In her second  F20 shot putt competition, Fortune was trailing until the third round, in which she throw for a personal best of 12.45 metres. This effort pushed her score up to 905 points giving her a first place finish.

Fortune’s success and recent performance is a great sign of her efforts to make the Great Britain Athletics Team for 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio. The minimum qualifying standards for British Athletics is 11.00 metres, and Sabrina’s current average mark puts her in a great position to make the team.

Outside of this weekend, Sabrina has enjoyed successful outings dating back to her fourth place debut at the 2015 Doha World Championships. In the same year, she was also shortlisted for Disability Sport Wales’ Female Athlete of the Year Award.

When she is not competing, Fortune spends her time assisting and spreading awareness on athletes with learning disability as a Rep at UKSA.

Sabrina Fortune has been nothing but brilliant this year, and cannot wait to see the rest of her journey on the road to the 2016 Rio Games.
