All enquiries about the Global Games and questions from British Athletes or about the British entry should be sent to the UK Sports Association on info@sportexceluk.org or by telephoning the UKSA office or your normal UKSA contact. Please do not contact the Organisers directly.

All entries for the GB Team to the Inas Global Games will be made via the UK Sports Association.

2018 Announcement
The UKSA Board re-affirms its support of the 2019 Inas Global Games. UKSA is planning to send a GB Team to the 2019 Games.

The Global Games are in Brisbane, Australia and will take place 9th to 20th October 2019. The Opening Ceremony will take place on 12th October.

UKSA will be working with its Sport and Selection Committees and relevant organisations in the UK to enable a team in athletics, swimming, table tennis, cycling, tennis and taekwondo to compete. The viability and feasibility of each sports team will be assessed by UKSA during 2018 and 2019. UKSA reserve the right to withdraw or change plans regarding any sport depending on its ongoing assessment of team entries and athletes. This may include, but is not restricted to considerations around funding, athlete performances, stakeholder commitment, economic or overall team viability. Any decision on Tennis or Taekwondo will made with the relevant NGB.

The 2019 Inas Tri-Nations Cricket Championships will take place in Brisbane alongside the Inas Global Games. UKSA is in discussion with the ECB on an entry for this event. Further information will be available in due course.

Global Games Standards and Selection
Athletes and Teams will be selected on the basis of British performance standards targeting realistic medal potential at the Championships.

Standards will be set by UKSA in athletics, swimming, table tennis, and cycling. Selection policies and standards for these sports are planned to be published by the end of January 2019. Selection closing dates have yet to be confirmed but are likely to be end March 2019. Staff will be invitation only from UKSA.

UKSA is in discussion with both the Tennis Foundation and British Taekwondo about the potential of a GB entry in these sports at the Global Games. Both are considering what is possible and further information will be available as soon as possible.

Athletes do not ‘apply’ to be considered for any sport. Sports Selection Committees will consider athletes in line with selection policies. The Committee will decide which athletes in which sports will be invited.

Global Games Competition Information
The Swimming and Athletics Championships are approved by World Para Swimming and World Para Athletics.

Class II1 will be included in all sports. Class II2 events are available in athletics and swimming and will be considered full medal events.

UKSA will include standards in class II1 and II2 for athletics and swimming.

Further information on class II2 in other sports and on class II3 has still to be confirmed.

Eligibility and Classification
All British athletes, across all sports will be expected to have full Inas International Classification and be listed as ‘active’ on the Inas Master list by the selection closing date in order to be considered.

Classification is not an administrative process and takes time to complete. Please check timelines on the UKSA website.

Global Games Costs
Full costs for the event are not yet known. As a guide it is estimated that costs will be at least £3,500 per person. This is an estimate only and will change. Further guidance on costs will be given in 2019 when Teams are confirmed. For those selected, minimum and maximum costs will be given. Athletes selected will be expected to pay 50% of costs at point of invitation/selection, whichever is earlier. Selection is expected to be completed by end March 2019.

Once a decision is made on the Global Games, The Tennis Foundation and British Taekwondo will decide how costs will be managed in their sport.

Communication
Communication from UKSA to athletes prior to selection will be through the UKSA website and social media.

There is no need for athletes from any sport to register interest directly with the Global Games Organising Committee or Inas. UKSA will manage all communication to the Organisers about British athletes and the British entry.
